Our Story
Founded In 1985: 35+ Years & Counting
“Let the little children come to me.” ~ Matthew 19:14
Beginnings
The seeds for our preschool were planted in 1963 when the First Presbyterian Church (now Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church) and Methodist church across the street jointly hosted a community nursery school. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, preschool students gathered in the old educational wing of the Presbyterian church while daycare for younger children was provided in the
Methodist church.
After hosting the preschool portion of the ministry for twenty years, the leadership of The Presbyterian church decided to launch a new preschool in 1985. Since a new expansion with classrooms had been added to the church the year before, there was ample room for this new preschool to grow and thrive. And thrive it did!
Expansion
By 1990, enrollment had increased to one hundred fifty students. As the decade progressed, the school began offering summer programs, such as Presby Adventure Camp (PAC) and Kid Quest. In 2003, another expansion to our facility added even more classrooms, a spacious gym, and an area for offices. With a new playground in 2017 and renovations to our classrooms in 2018, we’ve been blessed to continue to offer the highest quality facilities to the students and families that we serve.
Today
Today, close to two hundred children are enrolled at Presby Preschool. Many of these students are the children of former students who attended Presby Preschool in the 1980s and 1990s. Our staff has grown to include over twenty teachers, assistants, and paraprofessionals, and other team members who work hard to equip students to thrive in elementary school and beyond.
From the very beginning, our focus has been on the holistic development of each child. Our vision at the time of our founding was not only to prepare students to succeed academically, but to succeed in all areas of life. That is why our curriculum and classroom approach are designed to help children grow mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually.
Yet, even after thirty years, our vision remains the same. We are grateful for the privilege we’ve had of introducing thousands of children to a lifelong love for God and for discovering the world that He has made. We are excited to carry this mission forward into the decades to come!
